With the weather we have had this year who would have guessed that for
the first Virginia Cyclo-Cross Series it would be Sunny and in the high
70's. Not that I am complaining but this is not cyclo-cross weather, unless
you live in California.

The course was fast and even a little dusty. Mechanicals and flats were
the norm making the pits an active area.

Our Jr. crossers had a good showing even if on forgot his jersey. Next
time get a little more rest the night before Jonathan.

Jonathan Nathanson took 4th in the Junior 15-18 class and Jesse Saldana
got a third in the Junior 10-14. Way to go guys.

In the "Killer B" class Brian Hall and I represented Evo. On the first
lap about half way around, the course entered the woods for a little single
track. As the group was exiting the woods a loud pop was heard, like a gun
shoot. Well unfortunately it was one of Brian's wheels. Luckily the pit
area was only a short run and he swapped it out with his spare. Later on
thou Brian's mechanical wows continued with his cleat coming loose from his
shoes causing him a trip to the car. Even with all that he still marched on
for Eve pride and took 17th. We are racing for a team trophy also!

I had a good start and was working the top ten when a barrier jumped up
and bit me. After the start/finish there were two hurdles on a fast
straight. I approached at race pace swung my right leg over and stepped
through, but my left foot never came out of the pedal. Need I say I got a
very close look at the wood used for the hurdle. After remounting I had a
good battle with another rider right up to the finish. He beat me in the
finish line sprint dropping me to 9th.

Just another great day cross racing! I have attached photos that Jesse
Sr. was nice enough to take for us.

Our next event is Oct 26th at Lake Fairfax, VA. More on that later.

Check out the pics.
