I'd be lying if I said it was easy and I did it all myself! I got some
awesome help from several team members, especially Squirrel, Whopper,
Nick, Jason and this other guy who was wearing the 2 year old Evo
jersey!! Anybody know what his name is?

It was a fast race and fortunately I was able to get a pretty good start
and stay up front for most of the race and avoid the crashes. A couple
of times I attempted a break with NCVC, but nothing ever worked. Going
into the last lap I was probably 6th or 7th coming out of the first
turn. Then just before the second turn NCVC's sprinter (Servio)
attacked. I knew it was way to early, but when an Artemis guy jumped on
his wheel, I jump on Artemis and I was going to use them as my lead-out.
At this point we were flying through the 2nd turn and from there on it
was crunch time. Half way between 2 & 3 Servio pulled off and just
before the third turn I picked it up even more and blew by the Artemis
guy on the outside going through the turn. Obviously, at this point I
was committed, so I started my sprint with about 350 meter to go. All I
could see at this point was that finish line and I could hear the
announcer hyping it up. I was telling myself, I'm going to win this one,
I'm going to win this one (Janelle has been giving me such a hard time
about second being just ok and until I would win, nothing was good
enough). I just kept spinning and then I heard that NCVC was coming on
strong, so I battled the guy all the way to the line, where, as a last
effort I threw the bike across the line. At this point the NCVC guy
raised his hands and I figured I just got nipped at the line. It wasn't
until about a half hour later when Nick told me I won!!

So thanks to everyone on the team for helping out in getting me my first
win ever and making this such a memorable experience!! I couldn't have
done without you!

Special thanks to Nigel for all his help in trying to improve my
sprinting and to Jel, for giving me so much s#%t!!
