Our Mission

Evolution Cycling is a competitive bicycling club based in Northern Virginia formed to promote the development of competitive cycling. We are registered with the United States Cycling Federation (USCF), Mid-Atlantic Bike Racing Association (MABRA) and the Virginia Cycling Association (District 42). 2007 marks the clubs seventh year on the Mid Atlantic scene. Many of our members are veterans of the local and regional racing scene. Evolution Cycling is proud to have both a national champion (Nima Ebrahimnejad) and a world and national champion (Anton Quist) on our team. Evolution Cycling includes more than 100 members representing all ages and abilities, and serves as a main Mid Atlantic region resource through which new riders can learn the sport, and more experienced racers can develop their skills. In addition, Evolution Cycling hosts one of the region's premier criterium events, the Reston Town Center Grand Prix.

We offer accomplished and developing riders an environment where they can hone their skills, and where riders new to the sport can come for access to a wealth of race experience, coaching and training support, and to feel comfortable learning the ropes. Each year, we sponsor a limited number of riders in our Evolution Racing teams. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, sponsored team riders receive team clothing and race expense subsidies.

In 2007, in addition to our Sponsored Men's (USCF Category 1 & 2) race team we are fortunate to be able to field a team in the Junior category - a key area of rider development focus for our club. Evolution Cycling also fields informal teams comprised of Category 3 and Novice Categories 4 and 5, and welcomes men and women age-graded Master's riders as well. Cat 3-5 rider development is a main focus of the club. All our race teams are committed to a team approach to bike racing. We welcome riders who bring a team-oriented mindset to their racing. In 2007 we will target races primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region along with numerous National Racing Calendar events. Evolution Cycling supports group rides and training opportunities for our general members on a regular basis.

We'd like this site to develop into a forum for bike racing in the Mid Atlantic region. We'll do our best to provide useful racing and training information, race calendars and related cycling links throughout the year.
